Peter Stebbings broke out as a writer-director with the feature film Defendor starring Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings and Sandra Oh. The film debuted at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival and was acquired by Sony Pictures. His second feature, Empire of Dirt, written by Shannon Masters, premiered to warm reviews at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival, and was nominated for 5 CSA AWARDS [including Best Picture and Best Screenplay (won)]. Empire of Dirt also earned Stebbings a DGC nomination for best direction. Peter’s episodic work includes numerous episodes of television drama, including Rookie Blue, Orphan Black, Killjoys, Wynonna Earp and Frankie Drake. As well, he directed the recent 6-part mini series The Disappearance, shot on location in Montreal, which has been nominated for 4 CSA awards [Best Writing, Best Actress (Camille Sullivan), Best Direction, and Best Mini-Series]. Stebbings has had notable success in front of the camera as well. Among the parts for which Peter is proudest are the lead roles in Kardia, The Limb Salesman and Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh. On the small screen some highlights include ‘Cardinal DeLuca’ on the Borgias, and ‘James Balfour’ on Crossbones, opposite Claire Foy and John Malkovich for NBC.
