Finance and Admin Clerk Trainee

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television is the largest non-profit media membership organization in Canada. Job Description

The selected candidate must take a proactive approach to their work and enjoy financial data entry and have an interest in bookkeeping. The candidate assists in the ongoing maintenance of internal records and reports and in the preparation and maintenance of records and schedules for all accounts and programs. The candidate assists in the appropriate and safe handling of the financial records, forms, correspondence, and documents.

As this position is funded by Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training, this position is only open to Indigenous candidates who are eligible to be registered or are already registered with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training. 

Specific responsibilities will include:


Essential Duties

● Verifying and resolving vendor accounts by reconciling outstanding lists and related transactions

● Recording expenses to accounts via accounting software, NetSuite

● Validating invoice amounts by cross-referencing and checking various records

● Maintaining the confidentiality of information, the candidate has access to and upholding The Academy’s values through the use of ethical financial standards and best practices

● Maintaining financial files, records and historical data on Google Drive

● Scanning and uploading of required documents as needed

● Filing and organizing records

● Other administration duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

● A high school diploma or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a relevant field

● Superior communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with external customers and internal team members

● Excellent attention to detail with the ability to look at multiple documents at once and notice discrepancies

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

● Ability to work to a deadline in a timely manner

● Positive, proactive, and supportive attitude


START DATE:

Expected End Date: March 28, 2025

Region: Toronto, Downtown (Remote)

Working hours are Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM). A commitment of 35 hours/week is required. Evening work will be required for special events throughout the year and during Canadian Screen Week. Academy staff is currently working remotely. 

COMPENSATION: $20 per hour x 35 hours per week
