TOP 20 NOMINEES ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2020 PRISM PRIZE

Toronto, February 27, 2020 – Today, the Prism Prize announced the Top 20 Canadian music videos of the year as voted by a jury of more than 120 Canadian music, film and media arts professionals. Jurors reviewed almost 300 eligible music videos to nominate the Prism Prize Top 20, with the Prism Prize Top Ten shortlist set to be announced on April 2, 2020. The Grand Prize winner will be revealed at a screening and awards presentation on May 11, 2020 in Toronto and awarded $20,000, increased from $15,000 thanks to the generous partnership of Stingray.
Now in its 8th year, the Prism Prize is considered one of Canada’s most prestigious and cutting-edge music awards, recognizing the likes of Kaytranada, Charlotte Day Wilson and Grimes in past years.

“It felt wonderful. It felt surprising. It felt humbling,” says Kevan Funk, who took home the Grand Prize in 2019 for his clip for Belle Game’s Low, “I really admire the Prism Prize and the work that it illuminates; I think it’s tremendously important. So winning the award comes with a huge amount of appreciation.”
In addition to the $20,000 Grand Prize, the recipient of the Audience Award will also be announced live on stage at the May 11 event. Members of the public are encouraged to vote for their favourite video from the Top 20 to help determine the recipient of this annual award. Fans can vote for the Audience Award starting today (February 27) through April 10 at prismprize.com.
Several special awards recipients will be announced leading up to the May 11 presentation. These awards are designed to recognize Canadian artists making an impact and include the Special Achievement Award (Presented by Slaight Music, established to recognize an exceptional contribution to music video art on the world stage), the Hi-Fidelity Award (Supported by FACTOR, established to recognize recording artists who utilize music video in innovative ways), and the Lipsett Award (Sponsored by iHeart Radio, established to celebrate a unique approach to music video art).

Toronto – le 27 février 2020 – Le prix Prism a annoncé aujourd’hui les 20 meilleurs vidéoclips canadiens de l’année, tels que votés par un jury de plus de 120 professionnels canadiens de la musique, du cinéma et des arts médiatiques. Les jurés ont visionné près de 300 vidéoclips avant de retenir les 20 finalistes du prix Prism. La liste des 10 finalistes au prix Prism paraîtra le 2 avril 2020. Le gagnant du grand prix sera dévoilé à Toronto le 11 mai 2020 dans le cadre d’un visionnement et d’une cérémonie où il recevra 20 000 $ – une récompense majorée par rapport à celle de 15 000 $ remise l’an dernier, grâce à la contribution généreuse de Stingray, partenaire du prix.
Décerné pour une 8e année, le prix Prism est considéré comme l’un des prix les plus prestigieux et avant-gardiste de la musique canadienne. Kaytranada, Charlotte Day Wilson et Grimes figurent parmi les lauréats des années précédentes.

« Ce fut un moment merveilleux, surprenant et d’une grande humilité », a affirmé Kevan Funk, gagnant du grand prix en 2019 pour sa réalisation du clip de Belle Game – Low. « J’ai une grande admiration pour le prix Prism et le travail qu’il met en lumière. Je crois qu’il est d’une importance capitale. Je suis donc infiniment reconnaissant d’avoir remporté ce prix. »
En plus du grand prix de 20 000 $, la cérémonie du 11 mai couronnera également le lauréat du prix du public. Nous invitons les membres du public à voter pour leur vidéoclip préféré parmi les 20 finalistes afin de déterminer le gagnant de ce prix annuel. Les fans peuvent voter à partir d’aujourd’hui (le 27 février) jusqu’au 10 avril au prismprize.com.
Plusieurs lauréats de prix spéciaux seront annoncés dans les semaines menant à la cérémonie du 11 mai. Ces prix sont conçus pour souligner l’impact des artistes canadiens et comprennent le prix pour contribution exceptionnelle (présenté par Slaight Music et établi pour reconnaître une contribution exceptionnelle à l’art du vidéoclip sur la scène mondiale), le prix Haute-fidélité (soutenu par FACTOR et établi pour récompenser un artiste qui utilise l’art du vidéoclip de façon innovatrice ) et le prix Lipsett (commandité par iHeart Radio et établi pour souligner une approche unique de l’art du vidéoclip).
