CBC News Network with Ian Hanomansing covers news differently than conventional newscasts. As you’ll see in these episodes, we examine multiple angles of the tops stories of the day, speaking with reporters, analysts and people affected by the stories. With three live broadcasts each weekday evening from Vancouver, we stay on top of breaking news and developing stories. “Veteran host and reporter Ian Hanomansing began his broadcasting career in Nova Scotia, working at radio stations in Moncton and Halifax before joining CBC in 1986. Since then, he has had a wide variety of assignments for CBC as a reporter, anchor and interviewer. He’s won a Justicia Award from the Canadian Bar Association for Excellence in Legal Journalism. Other national awards include the 2008 Gemini for Best News Anchor, and in 2009, his reporting on non-returnable warrants won CBC News Vancouver the RTNDA’s national Ron Laidlaw Award for Best Continuing Coverage of a news story. Recently, Hanomansing was given the 2016 Canadian Screen Award for Best National News Anchor for CBC News Network with Ian Hanomansing. Hanomansing was born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and grew up in Sackville, N.B. He graduated with an honours B.A. in political science and sociology from Mount Allison University, where he was valedictorian; he also has a law degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax. While in university, Hanomansing won six national university debating and public speaking championships.”
