Long Tail Business Model
Friday – 1pm
Matt King is a Canadian Screen Award winning and International Emmy® Award nominated producer originally from Toronto. Matt began working in show business in the early 2000s in order to help his brother Andy with his sketch comedy videos for his streaming site Skitfaced.com, which pre-dated YouTube. Over the next decade, Matt went to study at University, played records to pay the bills, and set up LaRue to service a growing demand for quality assistance behind the scenes, and to better support the film and television producers and directors he worked for. After working on a number of shows, Matt landed a job in the legal department at eOne, and later left to re-launch LaRue with life-long friend and producing partner Andrew Ferguson. LaRue's mission is to make a positive contribution to the world through great storytelling. By supporting creative talent in a safe and uninhibited environment, and combining traditional methods with innovative models, LaRue continue to deliver boundary-pushing premium content at revolutionary costs. To date, LaRue's projects have attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including the late Academy Award Winning Director Jonathan Demme, creator of The Simpsons Matt Groening, and Mad Men’s Jon Hamm. Matt is probably best known for The Amazing Gayl Pile (CBC/Seeso/Amazon), Filth City (Studio+) and True Dating Stories (CBC/Bell) Matt is a member of the PGA, CMPA, WIFT, IWCC, and serves as a director of CAFDE.
