Prism Prize and RBCxMusic have partnered with TIFF for their next Breakfast at TIFF session celebrating music video creators and the launch of the Music Video Production Project, a joint RBCxMusic & Prism Prize initiative, supporting emerging artists and administered by the Canadian Academy.
Breakfast at TIFF: Music Video EvolutionFrom MTV in the 1980s, to the advent of YouTube and Vevo in the 2000s, to today’s social media channels, the music video format has continued to thrive despite changing technology, culture, and viewing habits. What hasn’t changed over the years is the music video’s importance as a showcase for creative talent, and its ability to launch the careers of artists and filmmakers — like Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich), Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways), Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy), and Kevan Funk (Hello Destroyer).
This Breakfast at TIFF event coincides with the launch of the Music Video Production Project, a new fund from RBCxMusic and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Join us to discover more about the music video production landscape in Canada and to learn about this new, exciting initiative and the opportunities it presents for emerging filmmakers.
