Academy unites film, TV and digital awards

TORONTO – May 1, 2012 – The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (ACCT) will unite its film, television and digital media awards into one gala event with a live prime time broadcast, Sunday, March 3, 2013 @ 8pm (NT 8:30) on CBC. Media Veteran Gary Slaight joins ACCT Board

ACCT Chair Martin Katz is pleased to announce that Gary Slaight, President/CEO Slaight Communications, has joined ACCT’s Board of Directors, effective immediately.

“Gary brings vast expertise in music, broadcasting, communications and media to the Academy,” said Katz, Prospero Pictures’ founder & President, following today’s ACCT Board meeting and Annual General Meeting (AGM). “Gary’s many talents complement those of ACCT’s new Board as we prepare the 32nd annual Genie Awards on March 8, 2012.”

Slaight said he is “honoured” to join the new ACCT Board and was inspired to do so because of its high level of commitment to spotlighting excellence in Canadian film, TV and digital media.
