Voting Divisions & Branches

The following information pertains to those who wish to qualify as Voting members of the Academy. Voting members are an important part of the Awards, as they make up awards committees and juries for the Genies Awards, Prix Gémeaux, and Gemini Awards.

Divisions

Cinema: created in 1979
Television: created in 1985

A member can belong to both the cinema and television divisions provided they meet the eligibility requirements for each division.

There is no additional fee for belonging to both the cinema and television divisions.

Voting Membership Branches

For an applicant to join the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television as a Voting Member the following eligibility criteria for one or more of the following branches must be met:

To vote for the Genie Awards:

• Credits in Canadian Cinema required

To vote for the Gemini Awards:

• Credits in Canadian Television with English designated as preferred language required

To vote for the Prix Gémeaux:

• Credits in Canadian Television with French designated as preferred language required

Credits can be acquired from working in the craft branches listed below.
