Claude Jutra Screening Series

National Film Board www.nfb.ca

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television presents the Claude Jutra Screening presented by AV Preservation Trust. The series will honour past Claude Jutra Award winners and will include a discussion with the director of each film.

The series will be held at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) at 150 John Street in Toronto beginning April 1. Admission will be free.

The Claude Jutra Award was established in 1993 in honour of the renowned Quebec director, Claude Jutra, who died in 1986. The Award recognizes the achievement of a first-time feature filmmaker and serves as a focal point for the Genie Awards each year, as it promotes and celebrates the hottest new talent(s) to emerge from the Canadian film industry. Sarah Polley took home the Award at the 2008 Genie Awards held in Toronto on March 3.

"It's remarkable the impact that Claude Jutra had, and continues to have on the Canadian film industry," said Sara Morton, CEO of the ACCT. "The Screening Series allows us to celebrate his legacy through the spectacular debuts of first-time directors."
